Bailout Bill Now Law, All Hail The King
Friday, October 3, 2008 will go down in history as either one of the brightest days of George W. Bush's presidency, or as a day of infamy. For weeks, the president has been pushing congress to pass landmark legislation designed to avert the oncoming recession. While the House of Representatives initially rebuffed the measure, as has been the case throughout his presidency, Mr. Bush eventually got what he wanted.
I'd like to say that I'm happy with the plan that has been signed into law, but quite frankly, I don't know exactly what that plan is. That's because most of the plan hasn't even been written yet.
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson (a.k.a King Paulson), and his team of hand-picked financial experts have 45 days to develop the plan that will determine exactly how the bulk of the bailout money will be spent.
Wow. This guy has unfettered oversight of $700 billion dollars of our tax money, and he hasn't even told us exactly what he intends to do with it? Now that's trust.
Let's just hope (and pray) that the king knoweth what he is doing.
